Review of the HMI 2016 – “Integrated Industry – Discover Solutions”

This years' Hannover Messe took place on April 25 – 29. With this year’s lead theme of “Integrated Industry – Discover Solutions” and the USA as its partner country, the world’s most important industrial trade fair sent trend-setting signals out around the globe.

The Hannover Messe 2016 closed its doors on a resounding success. Over 190,000 visitors made the trip to the Hannover Messe (compared to 175,000 in 2014) to bring their companies up to speed for the digital future and to invest in state-of-the-art technologies. Over 50,000 visitors were from outside Germany, a 25 percent increase on 2014. Visitors from the USA and China set a new record. With 6,000 visitors, China maintained its position as the second most widely represented nation among the visiting public after Germany. 30,000 visitors were counted from across Europe. Once again, the Hannover Messe proved its leading role as an international economic platform.

Making the most of the opportunities presented by digitalization and securing competitive benefits: These are areas in which Siemens supports industry with comprehensive expertise in electrification, automation and digitalization. Under the banner of “Ingenuity for Life – Driving the Digital Enterprise”, the Siemens presentation at the Hannover Messe 2016 covered an area of 3,500 sq.m and featured concrete offered solutions and actual examples taken from practice on ways in which companies in the manufacturing and process industries can benefit from merging the real and virtual worlds. Another key theme relating to the Digital Enterprise at the fair was safeguarding a sustainable power supply in the future and ways in which economy, climate protection and security of supply can be ensured.

The extensive range of possibilities offered by the SCADA System SIMATIC WinCC Open Architecture belonging to the SIMATIC HMI portfolio were demonstrated using demo applications at the Siemens booth. This allowed trade visitors to glean advice from the SCADA experts and gather information on the wide-ranging functional features and further developments.

Many thanks to those who visited our booth in Hall 9. We look forward to welcoming you again at the Hannover Messe 2017!
